--------In depth instruction on how to plan and
finance your business--------
|
"Choosing a product:
The first and most important step is to plan what
product or products you wish to sell through your online
business. There
are several key rules that you may want to follow in order to
make your business profitable.
Strive to sell a product that is in high demand by
consumers. In
addition, think of what products are currently popular or what
products are in short supply to the public.
You will find that selling a product that is in high
demand will result in more traffic to your site and the
possibility of more sales.
The next step is to develop your product.
There are millions of products that you can sell; the
key is finding the correct one.
Either construct a product yourself, hire a company or
contractor to build a product, or the most preferred method,
resell merchandise from an existing company."

-------------A comprehensive introduction to basic
Internet terms-----------
|
A browser is a program that allows you to
access the Internet.
Common browsers are Internet Explorer and Netscape. A browser
translates a programmer’s lines of code (HTML) into a
visible graphical user interface (GUI) or what you see
(colors and text etc.) when you go to a specific website.
For example, when you go to
www.yahoo.com the blue on the right hand corner and the
tables are actually produced by lines of programmer’s code or
HTML and transformed into a visible GUI or what the web page
looks like. To
see the lines of HTML code that creates a specific page on
Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer on your desktop and
look at the top area where "File Edit View"
resides. Click on
"View" and move your mouse down to "Source."
A Notepad window will pop up and show all of the
programmers code (HTML) that creates the current website you
are viewing.

-------------------A broad explanation of shopping
cart types-----------------
|
"The paid site requires you to make a significant
consummate investment.
You need to register a domain name, buy a hosting service and
purchase a shopping cart program (a shopping cart is a
program that allows you to sell merchandise online. Further
explained in the "types of shopping carts" section.)
The advantages to a paid site are complete
customization, a professional presentation to your customers,
and no annoying forced advertising.
For example, a paid site would have a domain name like
www.buymystuffhere.com, while a free site would have a
domain like
www.geocities.com/buymystuffhere.
To create your paid site we recommend
www.myhosting.com and
www.fatcow.com web hosting providers because of their
price, support, and ease of use..."
